10·10·10

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:35 pm

10·10·10 is a personal challenge that we are taking at Ginger Magic Games.  We are going to publish 10 titles in 2010, and average $10,000 in sales per title.  This is a highly ambitious project, and we’ll detail our results along the way here at gingermagicgames.com.  Here are the complete set of rules that we’ll be following:

  • Games can be designed or developed at any point in time as long as they have not yet been published until the year 2010 (this isn’t a big deal since we don’t have any titles that are in development, but we’ll begin designing our titles in the next 6 weeks, and hopefully complete development on our first title by January).
  • “Title” doesn’t necessarily mean game.  Although we are a game development company, if we come up with a killer app that is useful for others, then we’ll publish that and count it as one of our 10.
  • Developing a game for multiple platforms will constitute as multiple titles.  Mac and PC will not be separate, but if the same game is ported to iPhone, WiiWare, PC and XBLA, it will count as 4 separate titles.
  • The $10,000 in sales is an average.  If one game makes $100,000 (wouldn’t that be great), then it won’t matter how much the remaining titles make in sales.

The current status of the 10·10·10 challenge will be displayed in the sidebar on this site.  All titles released will be listed along with their total sales to date.  In addition, a master total and running average will be displayed at the top of the column.

Challenges are a great way to get things done.  Want to publish your first game, learn a new programming language, or start your own business?  Tell us about your personal development goals for the coming year below.
